Daycare should do more than tire your dog out

Great daycare supports physical health, emotional wellbeing, social confidence and the ability to settle after excitement. At Future Proof, every dog is treated as an individual. We balance guided social activity with enrichment, learning and genuine downtime—so dogs leave fulfilled, not simply exhausted.

Carefully Matched Groups

Matched Groups

Dogs are grouped by temperament, communication, play style and comfort—not simply size.

Purposeful Play

Activities build confidence, healthy social skills, movement and problem-solving.

Rest and Recovery

Planned breaks help dogs regulate, recover and return to activity when ready.

Behaviour-Led Care

We monitor body language, arousal, engagement and recovery throughout the day.

What a Future Proof Day Looks Like

Every day is structured around the dogs attending—not a fixed timetable imposed on every dog.

We Watch More Than Play

A dog can be active without necessarily being comfortable.

Our team looks beyond activity. We monitor body language, arousal, coping, engagement, disengagement and recovery throughout the day. When a dog needs support, we intervene early and adjust the environment.

What We Monitor

  • Body language and social communication

  • Arousal and ability to disengage

  • Coping and emotional regulation

  • Recovery following activity

  • Changes in behaviour across the day

How We Support Dogs

  • Smaller, compatible groups

  • Quieter yards or individual space

  • Sniffing and calming activities

  • Calm staff interaction

  • Water, rest and visual separation

Dogs are never expected to continue playing simply because they are at daycare.

Every Dog Transitions at Their Own Pace

Every new dog begins with a daycare behavioural assessment. Progression is based on the dog in front of us—not a fixed calendar.

Behavioural
Assessment

Graduated Visits (1–3 Hours)

Half Day

Full Day

Some dogs progress quickly; others benefit from a slower introduction. We consider age, previous experience, sensory sensitivity, coping style, social interactions and recovery following activity.

Puppies and adolescent dogs receive additional developmental consideration throughout their transition.

Is Daycare Right for My Dog?

Daycare can be valuable when the environment, activities and social opportunities match the individual dog.

Daycare May Be a Good Fit

  • Your dog enjoys or shows curiosity about compatible dogs

  • They can rest and recover following activity

  • They respond positively to staff guidance

  • They benefit from structured play, enrichment and learning

Another Pathway May Be Better

  • Group environments create persistent distress

  • Your dog struggles to disengage or recover

  • Interactions cannot be managed safely despite support

  • Individual behaviour or training support would better meet their needs

Daycare is not automatically right for every dog—and recognising this is part of responsible, behaviour-led care.

Suitability can change over time. If daycare is not currently the best option, we will explain what we are observing and recommend a more appropriate pathway.

Qualified People. Purpose-Built Environments. Thoughtful Care.

Behaviour-led daycare requires more than a philosophy. It requires trained people, adaptable environments and consistent observation.

Behaviour-Led Team
Our team is trained to observe canine communication, arousal, engagement, disengagement and recovery—not simply supervise activity.

Adaptable Environments
Indoor and outdoor spaces, quieter areas and enrichment rooms allow us to adjust the environment around the dogs attending.

Specialist Oversight
Our daycare approach is guided by Dr Liam Clay’s expertise in canine behaviour, welfare and emotional regulation, supported by senior team oversight and ongoing staff education.

Compatible Groups, Not Size Categories

Our Deer, Falcon, Bear and Wolf Houses help describe different temperaments and social preferences. Daily placement remains flexible and is based on communication, play style, confidence, energy, relationships and recovery.

What Our Daycare Families Say

Real experiences from families who trust Future Proof with their dogs’ care, development and wellbeing.

Tara, Liam and all of the staff have gone above and beyond with my little boy and worked with us to help him gain his confidence back. He has improved so much already. I cannot recommend these guys enough; they actually understand what our dogs need and make sure all of their needs are met.

Stacey and Winston

The team are awesome, and there is a lovely community as well—including the Facebook group, where we get awesome photos of Wally enjoying his time there. I also love that you can add extras to their daycare days, such as training, which helps his development.

Chelsey and Wally

It’s wonderful that Tara and Liam have created such a positive environment for Winston at daycare. Dogs like Winston thrive on play, training and social interaction, so it’s fantastic that he enjoys his time there so much.
